Since this is my blog's first challenge, I wasn't really sure what to expect. However, I have been pleasantly surprised by the amazing response and can't wait for this page to be FULL of you guys' submissions. Continue to send your entries to my email and I will upload them ASAP.

Starting 2011 off Right

So the other evening I got the chance to do some awesome promo photos for the second release of my friend Buchanan Moncure's book of short stories, "This Was Supposed to be Simple" (buchananmoncure.net) And also for his publishing company's site lostandfoundfiction.net.

We decided to go with the color theme of his second book's cover, a light blue background with white paper cranes. Since Buchanan's living room walls are very similar to the color of the book, we decided to shoot it there. I asked our mutual friend, Stephanie Cole, to model for the shoot. Stephanie works at the local French Bakery, Amelie's, and always has a smile on her face.

Setting up lighting

I got the chance to use out my new lighting kit, which definitely came in handy. This is the first "studio" shoot I've done, since my last two were on location at Clark's Antiques and Century Vintage. The overall product was very similar to my original sketch, which made me feel great because I love bringing the ideas I have in my head to life. The following photos are a preview of what we came up with!

I definitely had a blast working on this set of photos, from beginning to finish. I'm having a lot of fun being the official photographer for Lost & Found, and I can't wait to see what our next collaboration will be. Stay posted, and be sure to check out http://www.lostandfoundfiction.net/ for more info on upcoming projects!

Photo Challenge Submissions

Extended Date for First Photo Challenge

Okay, so after WEEKS without internet at my house, I have finally (somewhat magically) been granted the gift of the web once more.

I have been giving some thought to my first photo challenge, (See Here) and I have decided to extend the deadline for when submissions will be due. THE NEW DEADLINE IS FEB. 1st!! Also, I am going to modify the theme just a dat bit: Instead of taking two photos of yourself, (one where you look as you regular do and the second of yourself in some sort of alias) I have decided to cut it down to just one photo, which will be the photo of yourself looking as far from your usual self as possible. I know this theme is a little more specific than saying, "Hey, everyone upload a picture of a sign" or "Upload your best nature photo!" But I think it can be a lot of fun, and really interesting.

Feel free to start submitting your photos, and ideas for future challenges at grahammorrisonphoto@gmail.com. I will be uploading photos as soon as they are submitted, so start sending them ASAP. Thanks y'all, I can't wait to see what you come up with! :]

First Photo Challenge

Time for post number two. I have been giving a lot of thought to what the first contest/photo theme should be. I want it to be less of a competition and more of a place where a variety of people can upload similar yet different photos. So here's my first idea: This is going to be a "self portrait" theme, however, the challenge is to take two portraits of yourself. The first one where you look as you usually do, and the other of you making yourself look as different from the first as possible. This can be achieved by wearing a wig, drawing a mustache on your face, wearing a crazy outfit, it doesn't matter. I'm thinking it will be cool to see the before and afters of everyone's individual photos.

The deadline for this is Sunday, December the 19th. Hopefully we can get some good response for this idea. It sort of came to me randomly, but I think it will be a lot of fun. If you have any questions or if you are ready to submit your two photos, let me know by emailing grahammorrisonphoto@gmail.com. I look forward to receiving your entries, happy shooting!

Here's me being entranced by my first ever blog entry.

First post/Introduction.

Today I had a meeting with my former photography teacher, Sarah Baron. I was really happy that she agreed to meet with me, I really value her opinion because she has a pretty impressive background in photography. She suggested that I start a photography blog, which brings me here. I feel like the information I got from our little meeting today was priceless. One thing I am going to try to start doing is paying closer attention to the composition of my photos. We both agreed that this was an area that could stand a little more attention on my part. Overall, I really appreciate her helping me out and agreeing to meet with me in order to better myself as a photographer.

I am really excited for some of my upcoming projects. I had a meeting the other day with a local author, Buchanan Moncure. We are going to be working on a series of press photos that will go along side reviews for his new book of short stories titled, This Was Supposed To Be Simple. I really enjoy working with other local artists because we are really in the same boat. Another friend who I look forward to working with again is Dylan Gilbert. His live performances are incredible, he knows how to entertain a crowd. There's a lot of talent here in Charlotte, young talent especially. I am really lucky to be able to work with so many inspiring and unique individuals.

Okay, that's the end of my first blog entry. I'm 20 years old, you'd think I would have taken part in some sort of blog before now. Thank you for taking the time to read this, I plan on making these posts as interesting and informative as possible. If you need to contact me, please feel free to send an email to grahammorrisonphoto@gmail.com Au revior!
